Therapy AI scribe free trial — no credit card, real sessions

The free trial is the only honest way to evaluate an AI scribe. Generic demo notes say nothing about how the tool handles the cadence, terminology, and emotional range of your sessions. Here's exactly what TherapyDraft's trial looks like.

TL;DR

Two forms of free trial, depending on when you arrive. During the 2026 private beta, members get 30 days of unlimited access with no credit card. At general availability, the standard trial becomes 10 full sessions with no credit card and no time pressure. Both include every note format (SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP), every export path, the attestation log, and five-example style matching. Nothing is hidden behind the paywall during evaluation.

Why "no credit card"

Competing AI scribes often ask for a card "for identity verification" and then bury the downgrade path three menus deep. That friction exists on purpose — a non-trivial share of their revenue is users who meant to cancel. We don't want that revenue and we don't want the evaluation to be contaminated by the worry that forgetting to cancel will cost you.

A clinician who tries TherapyDraft for 30 days in beta, or 10 sessions at GA, and decides the architectural guarantee isn't worth $39/mo has evaluated the product under honest conditions. If they convert, great; if they don't, the trial didn't extract anything from them they didn't mean to give.

What you get during the trial

What's not included during the trial: Group plan features that require more than one seat (shared template library, per-clinician activity summary). Those come on at the first Group invoice.

How to start

  1. Join the waitlist on the homepage. Private-beta invites go out in batches as the first 100 seats open.
  2. When your invite arrives, download the signed macOS installer from the link in the email. The app is Apple-notarized, so Gatekeeper opens it without a right-click.
  3. On first launch, the app downloads the whisper and Qwen weights (~9.5 GB, one-time). After that everything runs locally.
  4. Your 30-day beta counter starts on the date of first inference, not on the install date — so downloading the weights doesn't eat your trial.

At general availability (target: late Q3 2026), the download flow will be public and the trial changes from "30 days unlimited" to "10 sessions, lifetime," again with no credit card and no expiration on the counter. If you join the beta first, the 30-day slot is yours regardless of GA timing.

What happens at the end of the trial

On day 30 of the beta trial (or after your 10th GA-trial session), the app stops drafting new notes and shows a pricing screen. Notes already drafted stay on your Mac forever — we don't delete the outputs of a trial, and the architecture doesn't give us any way to. If you subscribe, drafting resumes immediately. If you don't, nothing is removed, no data is held hostage, and no vendor has a copy of any session you ran through the trial.

Full trial terms and data-handling details live on the privacy page. Pricing after trial is laid out on the pricing page.

Related questions

Can I bring back the trial after it ends?

Beta trials are one per licensed clinician. At GA, the 10-session trial is also one per clinician — tied to the license key, not to the device. If you reinstall on a new Mac, remaining trial sessions transfer.

Will my trial notes work if I don't subscribe?

Yes. Every draft your trial produced remains on your Mac, in your filesystem, in whatever format you exported. They continue to open and copy normally forever. The only thing the app stops doing on day 30 is producing new drafts.

Is there a student or resident discount?

Yes. Fifty percent off Solo, billed monthly or annually, with verification via the pre-licensure program listed on the pricing page. The trial applies first; the discount starts at conversion.
